 35th Anniversary

2010 National BDPA Technology Conference
July 28-31, 2010

Professionals, executives, entrepreneurs, and students are invited to join National BDPA in our new decade, as we continue to provide tomorrow's workforce with pathways from "the classroom to the boardroom" through education, mentoring, professional networking, and STEM programs that enhance academic excellence, technical growth, leadership skills, and professional development. Currently, we are seeking dynamic, engaging, and knowledgeable workshop presenters for this year's National BDPA Technology Conference in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Our goal is to provide workshops that will appeal to a diverse group of youth, college students, and professionals in three distinct forums. Our expectation is that each workshop forum will provide attendees with an empowering experience as they participate in workshops that support them academically and professionally. Also, we request that all workshop presentations have a technology theme, provide STEM overtones, and are constructed with our conference theme in mind... Access for All.

Select here to pre-register .   Workshop abstracts are due on or before Saturday, February 27, 2010 to meet publication deadlines.

Federal Government Seeks 270,000 "Mission Critical" Hires

Study Finds Feds Need Major Hiring Binge to Fill Ranks
Numbers from Labor Department (DOL) for Labor Day week
Health, IT, engineering, and transportation are most sought after in Public Sector [Federal]

BDPA and LISTA nurture trusted relationships within the Department of Labor and Federal agencies providing economic development opportunities to its members.
The federal government needs to hire more than 270,000 workers for "mission-critical" jobs over the next three years, a surge prompted in part by the large number of baby-boomer federal workers reaching retirement age, according to the results of a government-wide survey being released this coming Thursday.

NBDPA (formerly Black Data Processing Associates) and LISTA (Latinos in Information Sciences and Technology Association) continue to execute their respective missions by providing information and direct access to new opportunities for  small businesses, technical support, and career development services to their members. Shown in the photo above (L-R) is Perry Carter, President, BDPA Washington; The Honorable Hilda L. Solis, U.S. Secretary of Labor; and Jose A. Márquez Leon, President and CEO of LISTA during LISTA's National Legislative Technology reception this past June. See story (cover and page 9) in your Summer 2009 edition
